How Often Should You Wash Your Hair? (And What’s Up with Hair Loss?)
People ask me all the time: How often should I wash my hair?
My answer? At least twice a week.
If you’re constantly rinsing but avoiding shampoo, swap in a cleansing cream rinse, like Hairstory or a two-in-one to keep things fresh without over-stripping. Keep in mind circulation is key—those little scalp massagers? Not just trendy. They actually boost blood flow, which supports hair growth. Ideally 5 minutes a day. I like to use caster oil or rosemary oil on my scalp before I wash it. If you are afraid of your hair drying out use conditioner on your ends before shampoo. I have dry, bleached hair and I do!
Now, let’s talk about hair loss. The number one culprit is stress and then hormones. If you’re shedding more than usual, don’t panic. Sometimes, all you need is a simple fix like Head & Shoulders or Nioxin to get your scalp back in balance.
Bottom line: A clean, healthy scalp = better hair.
Don’t overthink it. Don't be afraid to wash your hair and go see a trichologist or your doctor for hormone testing.
